The Long Summer

A song of Ice and Fire LARP

A story set 80 years after the events of Game of Thrones

The War of Five Kings left Westeros scarred. Alliances had been rewoven into treaties.

The Wall had fallen.

It was decided through a council of the remaining heads of the Great Houses that a new King was to be chosen between their mutual agreement to assure the best interests of the people of Westeros be met ahead of the pride of a lineage. Thus, it came to be that King Bran the Broken was set upon the Iron Throne.

A tentative era of peace ensued as Westeros rebuilt itself from the broken ramparts of war. Overseen by the Three eyed Raven King Bran the Broken ushered in to rebuild the smote ruins, of Westeros which ushered in a period of growth and prosperity, this time is known as the Long Summer. No matter how much King Bran had healed the Seven Kingdoms, political grudges, old wounds and rivalries sat under the surface. Not since the time of Jaherys Targaryen has Westeros had such a summer dawn.

Our Live Event

In the traditions of the Seven, each aspect receives a day where they are honored. Traditionally, Maiden's Day was celebrated by young, virginial women who would lay flowers, prayers, and offerings within the sept at effigies of the Maiden. When the Wall fell and the faith of the Seven was shaken, these and other traditions were seen as trivial.

The new era brings with it new traditions. The revival of the faith draws upon the change of time and hearts. This is a time when reminders of joy are needed more than reminders of isolation. Flowers are now woven into crowns to display one's desired affections. Games are played to "steal" the crowns. The innocence of a maiden's heart, and the hope for virtuous love in all young hearts, is celebrated under her protection beyond the walls of the septs.

The Houses

Baratheon

Greyjoy

Once legitimised for their efforts in the war, three of Robert Baratheon’s living bastards, Gendry, Mya, and Bella, staked their claim for the seat via birthright. Shireen, who still lived, under the guidance of the Red Witch, claimed that her father had been the next to inherit and thus it would rightfully be hers. Not wishing to have the split house come to blows, King Bran granted land rights within the Crownlands to Shireen, and land rights of the Stormlands to the newly legitimized bastards.

In the thirty years following the War of the Wall, the two branches of House Baratheon have clashed time and again for land and power despite the crown’s effort. Those who followed Shireen, now known as The Scaled Stag, would follow her and her eventual daughter to claim the majority of the Crownlands. Later generations would take over unattended regions of the Riverlands and make attempts to press into the Vale. Those who followed Gendry, Mya, and Bella took steady hold of the Stormlands they had been given. Despite many attempts to rename themselves, they were and still are referred to as the Bastard Born.

The War of the Storm Kings still continues. Choose a side and fight.

House Greyjoy did not leap to fight the oncoming threat of the undead when the Wall fell. They were forced into the war when the Others besieged the coasts of Ironman’s Bay. While Euron and his fleet swept the coasts, Asha took her forces against Ironborn tradition to fight inland. They did not stop with cutting down Others. House Greyjoy cut through and claimed much of the weakened and war-scorched Westerlands for their own. Even as the War of the Wall came to its end, the Greyjoy forces marched forward into undefended parts of the Riverlands and Reach, claiming more land for the Ironborn with blades, ships, coin, and a good bit of negotiation.

Will you rise with the Iron Tide?

The Houses

Lannister

Stark

The seated leaders of house Lannister fell with the wall. One to her hubris, another to their valor, the last to his own devices. In their absence, the House of the Lion sought out new leadership. Lancel Lannister rose to claim the seat. Honor gained in the War was lost to arrogance. The riches they’d amassed were lost with poor management. It was not long until House Lannister stood on the brink of poverty. Only through clever games and careful steps have they avoided losing any more of their weakened holdings within the Riverlands and Westerlands. The Lions roar with a new purpose: reclamation.

Rise again and let them hear you Roar.

The Freefolk were the first to know of the Others’ advance. They warned us, and we did not listen. The Houses of the North, once broken in division in the wake of the loss of House Stark, came together to uphold their ancient vows as the Wall came crumbling down. Many Houses fell or came near to falling in the War. When the last Walker was subdued, the question of seats of power once more rose up to fill the empty spots. House Stark would reclaim its place in leading the other Northern Lords, but Jon’s refusal to take what he believed to be Sansa’s birthright left many unwilling to bend to the wolves.

To garner favor, and to honor the power the North held both in their individual voices and as one force, Lady Sansa proposed a new method of governing their kingdom. She wed a Mormont to lift their house out of possible extinction, and alongside the two’s own heir, adopted a Lady from their bannerhouses as wards. If House Stark were to fall once more, the heirs of these wards would be the next to inherit the North. The Freefolk were granted their lands by royal decree, and officially recognized as a House of the North. Each major banner house would be given dominion over larger territories, having to only report to House Stark if the matter related to the North as a whole. While the North remained one of the Seven Kingdoms, it now presented itself as a more united people. This peace hinges on the goodwill of northern blood, which is known to boil rather quickly,

The United North remembers its grudges and its boons.

Arryn

The Houses

Tully

When the Wall came down, the borders of the Vale came up. None were permitted to enter or to leave. It took the outcry of a bastard insulting their hypocrisy of their actions against their House words to throw House Arryn and the Vale into the fray against their Liege Lord’s orders. The isolation of the Vale was strengthened after the war’s end. It became a greenhouse garden: perfectly cultivated within itself and ignorant of the world outside. This false paradise would not last forever. The Vale is open once more after nearly a century of being shut away.

Open your wings and soar.

By the time the Wall fell, House Tully brinked on extinction. Those who remained within the household, or loyal to it, found themselves following Lord Edmure from homestead to homestead to avoid the wrath of Lady Stoneheart or following Lord Brynden across the Riverlands chasing survival. Still, the Riverlands did not ignore the call to action. Those who could fight, did. Their efforts would put House Tully and their banner men back into the good graces of the Seven Kingdoms.

When peace found the Riverlands after the war, King Bran and his small council returned Riverrun to House Tully, and awarded them stewardship over the Twins and Harrenhall with the intent to breathe life back into House Tully before it could be snuffed out completely. The lands governed by the Tully’s are smaller now, but by no means lesser. A stubborn fire still burns in the hearts of the River Lords, and it feeds their hearths as the kingdom is reborn.

Serve your family with duty and honor.

Martell

The Houses

Tyrell

Dorne was perhaps the only realm in Westeros to prosper from the Wall’s demise. Floods of refugees sought the heat of the Southern sun and protection beyond the Dornish Marches. It took time for the people of Dorne to accept the mass immigration with tensions rising for a brief time over old grudges and modern economic challenges. Soon enough, however, the new increased population adapted to support their new home under the guidance and direction of House Martell. Multiple industries boomed, new alliances were made, and support for Dornish causes became further widespread as word traveled over ravens back to families who chose to stay behind.

For their service and protection to the people of Westeros, King Bran saw fit to award House Martell a partial extension of territory. It was his belief that the generosity and kindness of Dorne would extend to the people of the Reach and lessen the grievances earned for House Tyrell in wartime. They now co-rule the lands South of Highgarden with House Tyrell.

Shall you rise with the morning and shine unbent, unbowed, unbroken?

What more could a House give to the Kingdom than what House Tyrell had already given? Nearly their entire main family had been tarnished by the royal household, the alliances they had held for generations now called into question for their loyalties. Slander and gossip spread for the virtue of the Reach if they were led by such a people. When the wall fell, when Westeros scrambled to arms, mindsets turned. People begged for food, for resources that the Reach could provide. House Tyrell was kind, but rarely forgot a slight. The Reach used its bounty only for its own protection and people. Unlike House Arryn, who also sought isolation, House Tyrell was demonized for withholding their resources during wartime.

House Tyrell sought to rebuild alliances, agreements, and trade after the war, only to have their generosity spat at. Without trade from the other realms, they were forced to seek aid from the Crown. King Bran saw fit to grant their Southern lands to House Martell for co-rulership until trust could be rebuilt and resources plentiful again.

How shall you plant your seeds and grow?
